Training Requirements for LEGS Collaborators

The rules for working at BNL have become considerably more stringent in recent months and we need everyone's cooperation to ensure we are in full compliance.

PRIOR to taking experimental shifts at LEGS, the following training courses MUST BE COMPLETED. The first two sets, NSLS-required and LEGS-required Lab training, can be done remotely. Please make an effort to complete them before arriving at BNL. The third category of training is given by Lino when you arrive.

If you are not sure if your training is up-to-date, as far as BNL is concerned, go to http://training.bnl.gov/

  • select training records
  • select see-your-required-training-and-status
  • enter your Name or Guest number and hit submit

Any course listed that does not have a "Y" in the right column needs to be retaken. The training below needs to be completed (even if for some reason it isn't listed in the Training Data base).

1. NSLS-Required Training

LEGS collaborators may directly go to the NSLS User Training web page http://www.nsls.bnl.gov/training/Requirements/user-training.htm (suggested, since requirements and links may change with time) That web page has the following training requirements:

2. LEGS-Required Lab Training

  • Static Magnetic Field - Qualified (TQ-SMF)
  • Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (TQ-ODH)
  • Cryogenic Safety (HP-OSH-025)

These courses can be taken on-line and can be found on the BNL web-based course listing here, (no direct link to the course can be created).

3. In addition to the web courses, we provide:

  • A briefing on our Experiment Safety Review
  • Blosa training
